A cistern near the house stores approximately 23,000 liters of rain water.
Since the horse is a major part of Uruguayan culture, most owners organize through breed societies. These are the most influential groups for registration and competition:
Sociedad de Criadores de Caballos Criollos del Uruguay (SCCCU): This is the largest and most prominent association. The Criollo is the national horse of Uruguay, and this group manages the breed standard, organizes the massive "Marcha de Resistencia" (a 750km endurance race), and provides technical support to owners.
Sociedad de Criadores de Caballos Árabes del Uruguay (SCCAU): Focused on Arabian horses, which are highly popular in Uruguay for endurance racing.
And finally, of particular interest to horse lovers, the property to the immediate north, is dedicated to stud services for professional horse racing, the Haras La Coluda.
